Background:
Two Dots is a mobile game that has rich events and themes for players to adventure with a variety of dots. There are loads of levels with various difficulties, by completing which, the players get rewarded with tools, collectibles, and medallions. The game has undergone updates for several years already and will continue to evolve with development.
Challenges:
a.The app covers numerous gaming terms, posing a challenge to our linguists in IT, who would have to learn the relevant knowledge throughout the course of localization.
b.Inspiring terming and expressions in translation are required for marketing purpose.
c.The app’s UI comes with lots of short phrases and individual words, which are difficult to understand without context or screenshot.
d.Each level in the game may require various tools for players to score in different grades, and different outcomes may lead to different scenarios. Therefore, in the source, a number of variables are combined with units, names, dates, times, etc. to form different phrases or sentences.

Solution:
Yijie had undertaken a myriad of app localization jobs before. Rich experience and expertise in localization enabled us to work on the recommended online CAT platform where source, context and screenshot were integrated together for better understanding.
Since the target languages include both simplified and traditional Chinese, we used skilled linguists from both Chinese mainland and Taiwan to ensure idiomatic and fluent translation.
Then, editing and proofreading were also carried out before delivery.
